My name is Meagan Bechtold and I am 27 years old and I live in Las Vegas with my hubby and our 3 bulldog fur babies. I was diagnosed with Stage 2B Hodgkin’s Lymphoma after 6+ months of being misdiagnosed. I had an irritating obnoxious dry cough, and consistent fevers, night sweats, and loss of appetite. Although I had these symptoms I was told 3 different times that I had allergies, a stubborn cold, potential acute bronchitis, and well more allergies. A week before my husband and I were headed on our first out of country vacation he urged me to see the doctor one last time. Well, turns out no vacation for us I was immediately sent to the Emergency Room where I was officially diagnosed and remained in the hospital for almost 2 weeks. I went through 6 months and 12 rounds of chemo, and turns out the original mass had gone. Unfortunately for me on February 13th I received the news that there were 2 new lesions that had entered my body and had to be biopsied. March 13th, 2019 I found out Mr. Hodgkin’s was back in my life. I am now facing more intense chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant to come. I have always loved writing and have used it as an outlet during this journey in hopes to help another person going through this. I hope to create awareness for other cancer patients and hope to improve self care advocacy!
